Lambda Energy is a solar energy project based in Florence, Italy. We are focused on developing breakthrough technology to improve the performance of thin film photovoltaic solar cells.
Our technology relies on the use of multiple scattering in engineered complex structures. In this way we improve the absorption coefficient of the material and thus the efficiency.

A thin-film solar cell, is a solar cell that is made by depositing one or more thin layers of photovoltaic material on a substrate. The thickness range of such a layer varies from a few nanometers to tens of micrometers.
Third generation solar cells are solar cells that are potentially able to overcome the efficiency limit of 31-41% for single bandgap solar cells.

All the Research leading to the project Lambda Energy have been done within the European consortium LENS. Lambda Energy involve an international team of Researchers : Italy, Netherlands, France
Lambda Energy is the new way to think about solar panels.
